Nate Chio
Nate Chio is a seasoned leader in public safety and law enforcement with over 27 years of distinguished service at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). He holds a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Throughout his career, Nate has led specialized teams in high-stakes environments, including the Crisis Negotiation Team, Criminal Intelligence, Narcotics, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and the Special Investigations Section. His expertise extends to critical incident management, community engagement, and tactical operations, where he has demonstrated a consistent track record of team building and implementing accountability processes.
Nate's contributions have been recognized with multiple Unit Meritorious Service Awards, including honors for his leadership in resolving a 29-hour hostage situation and his efforts in combating human trafficking and illegal medical facilities. His dedication to public safety is further evidenced by his role as a tactical commander in SWAT operations and as a Bureau Commander overseeing criminal intelligence efforts targeting organized crime and public corruption.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Nate is an experienced instructor and presenter, having delivered training and presentations at numerous law enforcement conferences and educational institutions. He also serves as a coach and instructor for The Black Swan Group, where he provides high-stakes negotiation and leadership training to ambitious professionals and corporate clients.
Nate's commitment to his profession and community is further highlighted by his ongoing involvement in various special projects and legislative efforts aimed at enhancing law enforcement practices and public safety laws in Nevada.
